Revolutionize Your Visit: Hull Rust & Hibbing Mine View Overlook
Project's Summary
Phase II of the Hull Rust and Hibbing Taconite Mine View Overlook and Park project, developed by the esteemed LUCITO architectural studio, introduces an exciting addition in the form of a pair of two-season building structures serving as a visitors' center. These buildings, strategically perched on the north side of the Upper Park, offer breathtaking views of the active mine beyond. Designed as part of the same system as the distributed concrete landscape elements of Phase I, these building structures not only act as framing devices to the stunning vistas but also serve as the primary hub for visitors.
The Phase II buildings enhance the role of the former mine view and gift shop by incorporating dedicated space in the main building, which will be thoughtfully curated by the Hibbing Historical Society. Furthermore, adjacent to the main building, a slender and focused area dedicated to maps, mining, and geology will provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the region's rich heritage. To ensure an exceptional visitor experience, the buildings will be meticulously maintained and staffed by the knowledgeable and experienced members of the Hibbing Tourist Center Senior Citizens, who bring a lifetime of local knowledge and mining expertise to the visitors' center.
Continuing the distribution pattern and aesthetic simplicity of the Phase I landscape elements, both Phase II structures embrace a similar industrial construction logic. With a minimalist design, these buildings combine the use of concrete and steel, further enhancing the project's overall aesthetic. The completion of the building foundations in the summer of 2019 marks an important milestone in the progression of this remarkable project.
The Phase II buildings of the Hull Rust and Hibbing Taconite Mine View Overlook and Park project, created by the renowned LUCITO architectural studio, are set to revolutionize the visitor experience. With their exceptional design, breathtaking views, and curated exhibits, these buildings will undoubtedly become a must-visit destination for those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich heritage and natural beauty of the region. As the project continues to unfold, visitors can eagerly anticipate the completion of this remarkable endeavor, which will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all who have the privilege of exploring its wonders.
