Project's Summary

e-Architects | eiroa Architects recently completed construction on House II version C, located in Shinnecock Hills, Southampton, New York. This unique house project integrates multiple architectural typologies into a single topology, challenging traditional notions of space and design.

House II version C initially proposes three distinct programmatic areas with independent access. However, these areas are then displaced and topologically integrated into a single multidimensional space. The result is an interior and exterior space that loops and intertwines, creating a truly unique aesthetic that challenges the senses and perception of space.

One of the standout features of House II version C is its commitment to energy efficiency and ecological sustainability. The design and construction of the house were informed by fluid dynamic simulation, which helped integrate the interior and exterior spaces seamlessly. The house has achieved exceptional energy efficiency levels, surpassing many other homes in the Hamptons, New York. This was made possible through careful engineering strategies, such as air ventilation, circulation, and recycling, as well as the use of high-quality insulating materials and advanced glass technology.

The relationship between the house and its surroundings is also carefully considered. The design features only three openings that capture wind patterns from different directions. Once inside the house, these breezes are accentuated by air pressure and temperature differentials between the distinct areas. Each typology within the house maintains its own temperature, humidity, and air movement. The strategic use of glass, materials, and design articulation ensures optimal air flow circulation for temperature control.

In terms of construction, House II version C prioritizes environmental sustainability by utilizing reclaimed, reconstituted, and recycled materials. The innovative parallam system, made from reconstituted wood fibers, offers smaller structural sections while maintaining structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Overall, House II version C is a testament to the innovative and sustainable design principles of e-Architects | eiroa Architects. This project challenges traditional architectural typologies and embraces a multidimensional and fluid approach to space and design.
