Project's Summary

Fairfax Victory Village: An Affordable Senior Housing Development

Fairfax Victory Village is a new affordable senior housing development that aims to provide a lively and supportive community for seniors. The project, designed by the Van Meter Williams Pollack architectural studio, is nestled in the trees just off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Fairfax, CA. The 54-unit building is situated between two hills and follows the terraces of the site's topography, creating an organic and harmonious connection with the surrounding outdoor environment.

A Welcoming Space for Seniors

The central three-story portion of the building wraps around two courtyards and includes the main entry lobby, management and service offices, common laundry facilities, and resident common spaces for gatherings and events. The courtyards are protected with deer fencing, providing safe and landscaped resident use areas. One courtyard provides raised accessible planter beds for resident use, while the other courtyard provides an outdoor area off the community room for outdoor resident events.

Connecting with the Community

Fairfax Victory Village aims to encourage a connection with the surrounding communities via nearby transit. The new building is approximately 50,000 square feet with 43 parking spaces. The project provides a welcoming space for seniors to live, connect with others, and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

An Affordable Housing Solution

As the cost of living continues to rise, affordable housing has become an increasingly important issue. Fairfax Victory Village offers an affordable housing solution for seniors, providing a supportive and vibrant community for those who need it most. The project is an example of how architecture can create positive social impact by addressing pressing societal issues such as housing affordability and social isolation among seniors.
