Project's Summary
Dutch Architects MoederscheimMoonen Complete Sports Accommodation Project for CVV Zwervers
Dutch architects MoederscheimMoonen have recently completed a sports accommodation project for Football club ‘CVV Zwervers’. The new facility forms a part of the sports park ‘Couwenhoek’ in the Dutch town of Capelle a/d IJssel. The architects aimed to emphasise the experience of the sport and its relation to the building in their design.
Unique Design Features
The sports accommodation design features a solid plinth on the ground level which houses the locker rooms and a variety of service areas. Above the plinth, a partly transparent volume houses the bar and public areas and then overflows onto a large stand overseeing the main field. A generous overhanging roof surrounds these areas, creating a single gesture. The dark bricks of the plinth contrast with the glass and aluminium superstructure and warm yellow interior of public areas.
Communal Function
Architect Erik Moederscheim stated that buildings like the CVV Zwervers sports accommodation project have a strong communal function. The design team has been working on small and large-scale projects for almost ten years, and they understand the passion and joy that people experience with sports. At times when there is no training or match, this building is also used as a community centre or meeting location.
A Design Focused on Experience
The CVV Zwervers sports accommodation project is a great example of a sports facility design that emphasises the experience of the sport and its relation to the building. The architects wanted to create a space that would not only be functional for the football club but also serve as a meeting place for the local community. With its unique design features and communal function, the CVV Zwervers sports accommodation project is sure to be a popular destination for sports enthusiasts and community members alike.
In conclusion, MoederscheimMoonen Architects' sports accommodation project for CVV Zwervers is a great example of a well-designed sports facility. By emphasising the experience of the sport and its relation to the building, the architects have created a space that is both functional and inviting. With its unique design features and strong communal function, the CVV Zwervers sports accommodation project is sure to be a popular destination for sports enthusiasts and community members alike.
