Seamlessly Harmonizing Architecture: Cube House Blends with Landscape
Project's Summary
The Cube House, designed by the architectural studio Agraz Arquitectos S.C., seamlessly blends into its surroundings, with its geometric volumes harmonizing with the light and landscape topography. This unique project is a direct response to the location it is situated in.
The site, with its north-inclined terrain, offers breathtaking views of a ravine adorned with picturesque scenes. In order to make the most of this natural beauty, the architects chose to position the house on the highest part of the hill, allowing it to blend effortlessly with the landscape. This design approach aims to mimic how nature itself would have integrated the structure into its surroundings, while also preserving the integrity of the hillside.
To make the most of the sloped land, the public areas of the house were strategically located on the upper level, while the private spaces were nestled into the lower portion of the site. This thoughtful arrangement ensured that the dwelling seamlessly followed the contours of the land, creating a harmonious connection between the house and its environment.
On the lower level, facing the street, one can find the carports, house entrance, living and dining rooms, kitchen, and terrace, all designed to foster a sense of community. Additionally, a double-height urn for contemplation serves as a focal point, projecting outward as the impressive cube structure rises above.
Moving to the lower floor, one discovers the bedrooms and a small living room, which open up to the garden and find solace in the depth of the terrain. This secluded area offers a private sanctuary where residents can retreat and immerse themselves in the lush greenery that envelops the house.
Ultimately, the Cube House is a testament to the concept of a tectonic box, translating its architectural essence into a dwelling that enhances the lives of its inhabitants. It effortlessly merges with the natural landscape, creating a tranquil and harmonious environment for those lucky enough to call it home.
