Blend of Old and New: Bellacor's Inspiring Workspace
Project's Summary
Bellacor's New Workspace: A Perfect Blend of Old and New
Bellacor, a leading internet-based retailer of lighting and home furnishings, recently moved into their new workspace in Minneapolis's Warehouse District. Located on the top floor of the historic McKesson Building, the new office is a perfect blend of old and new. Designed by Snow Kreilich Architects, the workspace occupies the entire top floor of the building and features a rich mix of materials that highlight the existing brick and wood structure.
The design approach of the project was to foreground the existing material and light of the building while creating a physical expression of Bellacor's online presence. As such, the office showcases a variety of lighting fixtures sold by the company throughout the space. The major gathering spaces, such as conference rooms and collaborative work areas, were placed as blocks in the space to provide organizational structure.
A lighting track pattern of varied height and orientation further reinforces these localized conditions, breaking down the open office and creating smaller settings for working. These new insertions are subtle, seeking to defer to the qualities of the existing building while establishing a welcoming, refined space that reflects the brand. The result is a space that is not only functional but also beautiful.
One of the unique features of the new workspace is the way it seamlessly blends old and new elements. The design team was able to create a modern office space while maintaining the integrity of the building's original structure. The result is a space that celebrates the past while embracing the future.
Another noteworthy aspect of the project is the attention to detail. From the lighting fixtures to the furniture, every element of the office was carefully selected to create a cohesive and inviting space. The result is an office that feels more like a home than a workspace, making it a comfortable and inspiring place to work.
In conclusion, Bellacor's new workspace is a perfect example of how to create a modern office space while respecting the past. The design team was able to create a beautiful and functional workspace that celebrates the building's history while providing a welcoming, modern atmosphere. The result is a space that reflects the Bellacor brand and is sure to inspire its employees for years to come.
