The exhibition "Actrius Catalanes del segle XX" (Catalan Actresses of the 20th Century) is currently taking place at the Palau Robert exhibition space in Barcelona. To create an immersive experience, the ISABELLOPEZVILALTA+ASSOCIATES architectural studio designed a feminine theater space that perfectly complements the subject matter.

The color red, known for its association with spectacle and glamour, plays a prominent role throughout the exhibition. Red carpets, often synonymous with cultural events, guide visitors from the moment they step foot into Palau Robert. Inside, a canvas screen, beautifully backlit in red, illuminates the space and acts as a striking backdrop for graphic projections. Purple velvet curtains serve as both a backdrop and a way to demarcate the different exhibition areas, seamlessly guiding visitors from one space to the next.

The lighting structure in the first room resembles a kaleidoscope, adding a touch of whimsy to the overall ambiance. A vintage sofa invites visitors to relax and enjoy interviews and screen clips featuring the various actresses. Additionally, a captivating spiral of tulle guides viewers through ten archetypes of complex characters that were brought to life on stage throughout the theater years. As visitors continue their journey, they will encounter a hallway adorned with large images representing each decade of the twentieth century.

The exhibition itself is a treasure trove of memorabilia, costumes, personal belongings, and letters. These carefully curated items are displayed within a deceptively simple yet expertly staged space.
