SHOREDITCH HIGH STREET, LONDON
Project's Summary
The old fuel station property offers a chance to restore Shoreditch High Street's historic cityscape in an area characterised by Victorian warehouse architecture, scars from WWII bombardment and later postwar construction.
To reimagine the architectural principles of the previous warehouses' well-proportioned brick façade with big glass openings close to the sidewalk, the designs take inspiration from those structures.
Slender horizontal details and massive stone pilings work together to give the façade an unmistakable feeling of height. When juxtaposed against the sharp precision of the glazing and metalwork, the handmade linear bricks offer a handcrafted look.
