Project's Summary

80 GREAT EASTERN STREET

Ex-warehouse-showrooms at 76-80 Great Eastern Street are an example of the rich architectural remains of an Edwardian and Victorian industrial area.

Since they'd been used as showrooms and warehouses for the previous three decades, the old structures had reached the end of their useful lives. Restoring the original brick, iron, and wood structures was the goal of our plan to remove the 20th century additions. Open-plan office space is restored to the upper floors, while retail at street level bears tribute to its historical trade counter function. Nine additional duplex penthouse apartments have been added to the top of the building.

The black silhouette contrasts starkly with the old brickwork below, making it seem like a collection of roof-level townhouses.
