Project's Summary

The Pierhouse and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Development: A Unique Blend of Architecture and Nature

The Pierhouse and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge development is a one-of-a-kind architectural masterpiece in Brooklyn Heights. The project, created by the Marvel Architects, Landscape Architects, Urban Designers, PLLC architectural studio, features a 194-room hotel and a 106-unit condo residence. But what sets this building apart is its unique design innovation that allows every residence to experience unparalleled views of the New York harbor and the park.

Innovative Design and Features

The building is a perfect blend of architecture and nature. It is designed to echo the park’s simplified use of stone and steel, and it steps down to meet the green lawns with planted roofs. The complex features green roofs, a variety of pathways to access the park, and a newly activated Furman Street. Pedestrian pathways through the structure ensure it will not be a barrier to public access, and the line between the park and the building’s private spaces is a berm rather than a wall.

The architects let the park lead and made their building more park-like, letting architecture defer to landscape. The project's landscape is designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, and the interiors of the 1 Hotel are designed by INC Architecture & Design. The hotel guests and apartment owners share the public space, and the building serves as an improved link between the still-industrial Furman Street and the open space.

A Sustainable Building

The Pierhouse and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge development is not just an architectural marvel but also a sustainable building. The building has green roofs that are designed to reduce the heat island effect, improve air quality, and manage stormwater. The complex also features solar panels that generate electricity, and the building’s energy-efficient design helps reduce energy consumption.

Conclusion

The Pierhouse and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge development is a unique blend of architecture and nature. The project's innovative design allows every residence to experience unparalleled views of the New York harbor and the park, while its sustainable features make it an eco-friendly building. The project is an excellent example of how architecture can blend with nature to create a harmonious and sustainable living environment.
