Penthouse Renovation: Harmonious Design with Teak Boiserie in Lugano
Project's Summary
The project focuses on the renovation of the interior and exterior spaces of a penthouse located on the top floor of a newly constructed building in Lugano. The clients desired a customized solution that would add a touch of warmth to the rationalist character of this Ticinese architecture.
The key element of the proposed solution is the Teak boiserie, which cleverly conceals the doors to the service areas such as the guest bathroom, storage room, and internal elevator. However, its true function lies in creating a sense of unity among the various spaces within the house. The choice of materials was guided by the desire to maintain a seamless perception between the interior and exterior. Basalt stone covers the floors, while Teak is also used for the rooftop terrace.
To enhance the overall design, most of the furniture was custom-made, and the lighting is seamlessly incorporated into the architecture. Additionally, a few iconic design pieces complete the ensemble, adding a touch of sophistication to the space.
This penthouse project in Lugano, crafted by the Victor Vasilev Architect studio, showcases a thoughtful and tailored approach to interior and exterior design. By incorporating Teak boiserie, the architects have not only provided a clever solution for concealing service areas but also created a harmonious flow throughout the entire residence. The choice of materials, such as basalt stone and Teak, ensures a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors, further enhancing the overall aesthetic. Custom-made furniture and integrated lighting add to the bespoke nature of the design, while iconic design pieces serve as statement accents. This project stands as a testament to the studio's ability to create a warm and rationalist living space that perfectly complements the architectural style of Ticinese.
