Project's Summary

Marvel Architects, Landscape Architects, Urban Designers, PLLC have recently designed the stunning Red Creek Road Residence, a 5000 SF weekend home located in South Hampton, New York. The house is situated on a 3.64-acre site, offering breathtaking views of both the Great Peconic Bay and the surrounding forest. To make the most of the idyllic location, the architects have used natural cedar clad walls and curtainwall with glulam wood mullions to define the structure.

The Red Creek Road Residence is a unique home that connects visitors directly with moments in the forest and the Bay. The architects have used unique windows and balconies to frame glimpses of the expansive horizon of the Great Peconic Bay. The cedar-clad breezeway invites visitors to emerge from the forest and enjoy the stunning views of the Bay.

The public wing of the house has been designed to reach towards the sea, while the outdoor living room connects the entry, garage, kitchen, dining room, and living room. The pool and terrace have been sheltered by the glazed public wing, while the master bedroom terrace overlooks the entire area. The board-formed concrete fireplace echoes the cedar-clad exterior, referencing the vernacular cedar-shingled homes of the area.

The Red Creek Road Residence features an open stair that connects the private and public wings and three levels of the house. The design allows visitors to experience the Bay through the stairway, adding to the unique charm of the home. The balcony, board-formed concrete fireplace, and floating open staircase also mimic the unique experience of existing between the woods and the water.

In conclusion, the Red Creek Road Residence is a stunning weekend home that offers breathtaking views of the Great Peconic Bay and the surrounding forest. The natural cedar clad walls, unique windows, and balconies make direct connections to moments in the forest and the Bay, while the board-formed concrete fireplace echoes the cedar-clad exterior, adding to the charm of the home. This residence is a perfect example of how architecture can blend seamlessly with nature to create a unique and memorable experience.
