Creative Barn Design: Art Studio in Meier Road Project
Project's Summary
A Creative Solution for an Art Studio in Meier Road Barn Project
Mork Ulnes Architects, in collaboration with SFOSL, has completed the Meier Road Barn project, which aimed to provide large, flexible spaces for various purposes, including storing farm equipment, workspaces, collectables, and an art studio. To keep in line with the adjacent barns, the team decided to use the barn typology, which was the perfect solution for this project.
Challenges in Creating an Art Studio in a Barn Vernacular
One of the main challenges that the team faced was creating an ideal art studio within the barn vernacular. However, they were able to overcome this challenge by inverting the traditional gable barn roof. This solution provided the needed height for the studio and allowed it to benefit from indirect northern light conditions, which were ideal for creating art.
A Talented Design Team
The Meier Road Barn project was designed by a talented team of architects, including Grygoriy Ladigin, Casper Mork-Ulnes, Andreas Tingulstad, and Nick Damner. Their creativity and expertise were instrumental in creating a space that was not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
Captivating Photography
The Meier Road Barn project was beautifully captured by photographer Bruce Damonte, who was able to showcase the project's unique design and functionality. His photos showcase the barn's spacious interior, which can be used for various purposes, including storing farm equipment, collectables, and providing workspaces. The art studio, with its inverted gable barn roof, is particularly impressive and provides a perfect space for artists to work and create.
In conclusion, the Meier Road Barn project is an excellent example of how creative solutions can be used to overcome challenges in architectural design. The team's decision to use the barn typology was a perfect solution, and their ability to create an ideal art studio within the barn vernacular is impressive. The project's success is a testament to the talents of the design team and the beauty of the space they created.
