Transformed into Two Distinct Vacation Destinations: Impressive Resorts Punta Cana

DCM-AE, a renowned architectural studio, recently completed an impressive project called Impressive Resorts Punta Cana. The objective of this project was to convert and rebrand an existing hotel property into two distinct vacation destinations. With the aim of adhering to the new unlimited fun brand standards, both resorts were designed to cater to families while maintaining their individual identities. To optimize capacity, two new buildings were added, providing an additional 138 guest rooms.

One of the notable features of the design is the larger of the two new buildings, which was cleverly divided into three sections, resulting in a unique zig-zag floor plan. This design not only enhances the views but also creates an interesting movement in the façade. The tilting and angled full-height walls separating the balconies further contribute to the dynamic aesthetic. Throughout the property, the 18 different room typologies were upgraded to meet the new standards. The dark and outdated aesthetics were replaced with lighter color woods and textiles, giving the resort a modern and fresh look.

As part of the renovations, various entertainment zones, pools, spas, restaurants, and a covered outdoor theater were constructed to enhance the vacation experience for guests. The highlight of the new theater is its long span gable steel structure, capable of accommodating up to 600 seated guests. Its unique armadillo shape, comprising three overlapping roof sections, not only provides protection against rain but also promotes cross ventilation.

To maximize the breathtaking ocean views, two new restaurants were added to an existing beachfront building. The first floor was expanded using wood porticos to support the new restaurants and allow for outdoor seating. Celebrating the beauty of the open space, the roof rafters were left exposed. Moreover, the original flat roof was replaced with a double curved thatch, adding a touch of elegance. Enhancing accessibility, a new exterior staircase and elevator were installed.

In addition, a separate building underwent a complete renovation to house the relocated spa and fitness center, along with a new restaurant. This transformation ensures that guests can enjoy top-notch amenities while indulging in a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
