The Geodesic Planetarium is a groundbreaking architectural project located in the heart of Saint Petersburg, Russia. It represents a visionary transformation of an industrial area into a modern scientific and educational center. At the core of this project lies the world's largest planetarium, which is ingeniously housed within a historic gasholder tower. Constructed in 1884 by the notable architect Rudolf Bernhard, the gasholder tower stands as an architectural monument with a diameter of 42 meters and a height of 20 meters. This impressive structure, with a total volume of 40,000 cubic meters, served the City Lighting Society of St. Petersburg and remained abandoned for over a century until its reconstruction began in 2015. By November 2017, the planetarium was open to the public, offering a glimpse into the cosmos through its state-of-the-art facilities.

The geodesic dome of the planetarium is a feat of engineering, built with LVL beams and innovative steel connectors known as 'Haeckel'.
