Project's Summary

ROMAX Café, located in Coatepeque, is getting a stunning makeover with the implementation of a digital design and manufacturing project for decorative elements. The project, created by VIKA-taller architectural studio, aims to enhance the aesthetics of the café and create functional spaces within it.

One of the key features of the project is the digitally fabricated wall, designed to house terrariums and plants. The wall is made from 17mm thick plywood, and its intricate design is created using a CNC router. This digital fabrication technique allows for precise and accurate cuts, resulting in a seamless and visually appealing wall that adds a touch of nature to the café's ambience.

The ceiling of ROMAX Café is another area that has received special attention in the project. A parametric design has been employed to showcase the flow of circulation within the café, indicating points of concentration. This design concept not only adds visual interest to the ceiling but also helps to guide customers through the space, creating a dynamic and engaging environment.

To further enhance the café's appeal, the project includes a simulated flow bar. This bar, measuring approximately 5.00 meters, is covered with 1-inch thick MDF and is meticulously crafted using a CNC router. The design of the bar mimics the movement and flow of the café, creating a seamless transition between the different areas. The combination of digital fabrication and thoughtful design ensures that the bar becomes a focal point, adding both functionality and style to the café.

The project was meticulously designed and diagrammed by Victoria Tiu, an expert in architectural design. Tiu's attention to detail and creativity shines through in every aspect of the project. The stunning renderings, also created by Tiu, provide a glimpse into the final result, showcasing the beauty and functionality of the digital design and manufacturing elements.

This project was carried out in collaboration with La Granja Fab lab, a renowned fabrication laboratory known for its expertise in digital manufacturing. The partnership between VIKA-taller and La Granja Fab lab has resulted in a truly remarkable transformation of ROMAX Café. The combination of digital design, precision fabrication, and thoughtful craftsmanship has elevated the café's aesthetics and created a unique and inviting space for customers to enjoy.

In summary, the digital design and manufacturing project for ROMAX Café in Coatepeque has brought a new level of beauty and functionality to the establishment. The intricate wall, parametric ceiling, and simulated flow bar are all testaments to the power of digital fabrication and thoughtful design. Victoria Tiu's expertise and the collaboration with La Granja Fab lab have resulted in a stunning transformation that is sure to impress both regular customers and new visitors alike.
