Project's Summary

The Club Náutico Lo Pagán in San Pedro del Pinatar has recently undergone a major refurbishment project led by the XPIRAL architectural studio. The aim of the project was to enhance the functionality and overall appearance of the main building, which was initially lacking in several areas. The refurbishment included various improvements such as the creation of a double entrance for the restaurant, improved accessibility throughout the building, the construction of a spacious public space, and the expansion of the restaurant and its kitchen.

One of the key objectives of the refurbishment was to create a contemporary image for the building that would make it a landmark in the area. The architects achieved this by using a variety of materials and construction techniques. The building was wrapped in different skins that were pierced with openings as necessary, allowing for the installation of new facilities. This gave the building a unique and unfinished appearance, evoking marine iconography and blending in with the bustling atmosphere of the nearby harbor.

The interior and exterior of the building were designed to make the most of the Mediterranean light. Different types of enclosures were used to create a range of light hues, while the curved timber structure and various metal coverings added to the building's dynamic and ever-changing image. The use of zinc for the façade and roof provided water tightness and a seamless integration with the overall design.

The building was also equipped with specialized spaces to accommodate its diverse functions. The restaurant, for example, was elevated to provide a better view of the surrounding area, and two separate entrances were created for the public and club members. The offices were reorganized and improved accessibility was achieved through the addition of ramps and stairs. The members' lounge and terrace were positioned to offer the best views of the marina, and a new external stair was added for easier access.

In addition to the refurbishment of the building itself, the surrounding areas were also improved. The parking area was organized by painting International Code Flags on each parking spot, adding both a playful touch and facilitating car maneuvers. The esplanade around the building was modified to improve access and create a green area alongside it.

Overall, the refurbishment of the Club Náutico Lo Pagán has transformed it into a modern and functional facility that meets the needs of its users. The combination of innovative design, attention to detail, and consideration for the surrounding environment has resulted in a building that stands out as a prominent feature of the San Pedro del Pinatar waterfront.
