Project's Summary

The BLNT house, conceptualized by AT26 architects, is a prime example of modern architecture harmoniously integrated into a traditional setting. Located in the charming neighborhood of Vrakuňa, on the outskirts of Bratislava, this compact family residence was meticulously designed to accommodate the needs of a young family with two children. The architectural journey began in 2015 and culminated in 2018, resulting in a home that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and inviting.

One of the standout features of the BLNT house is its thoughtful organization of space. The flat site, typical for the area, allowed the architects to create a compact structure that maximizes the use of the garden while maintaining a low profile in the surrounding landscape. The design philosophy emphasized simplicity and practicality, with the first floor dedicated to semi-public spaces. Here, the living room and kitchen are seamlessly connected to the garden and pool area, fostering a sense of openness and a strong connection to nature.

On the second floor, the design shifts focus to privacy and intimacy, featuring bedrooms and children's rooms that are thoughtfully placed away from the public areas of the home. This layout not only enhances the comfort of the family but also ensures that the private spaces are serene and conducive to relaxation. The use of local materials, such as white plaster with texture, wooden cladding, and traditional white bricks, further enriches the architectural language of the house, providing a sense of place and belonging.

Bricks, utilized as artistic details in the BLNT house, serve a dual purpose. They offer shading and privacy while allowing residents to enjoy views of the outside world. This innovative approach to material usage reflects a deep understanding of both functionality and aesthetics, making the house a true testament to contemporary design. The architects have successfully blended modern elements with local traditions, resulting in a structure that feels both fresh and familiar.

Ultimately, the BLNT house stands as a modern expression of family living that respects its rural roots. It encapsulates the essence of Bratislava's architectural heritage while embracing contemporary design principles. The end result is a home that is not only visually stunning but also thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of a young family in a friendly, traditional neighborhood.
