Project's Summary

The Pavilion of Time, an architectural exhibition contest entry by ArchiLEM, stands as a testament to the innovative spirit of modern architecture. This project draws inspiration from the legendary architect Konstantin Melnikov, known for his exceptional ability to manipulate space and create dynamic compositions. Our pavilion embraces the concept of 'void'—the spaces between architectural elements—transforming emptiness into a powerful design tool that enhances the overall aesthetic and functionality of the structure.

In the Pavilion of Time, we have meticulously designed the flow of space to guide visitors through a journey of discovery. The 'void' is ingeniously integrated into the layout, with window and door openings that create a seamless transition from the main hall, characterized by its sloping floor, to the staircase that ascends to the upper level. This thoughtful design not only facilitates movement but also fosters a sense of connection between different areas of the pavilion, reminiscent of Melnikov's own work on the USSR pavilion at the 1925 World Exhibition in Paris.

At the core of our pavilion lies a multipurpose hall, which is flexible enough to serve various functions—from hosting immersive video classes to showcasing art exhibitions. The space is designed to accommodate diverse activities, including music performances and creative workshops, providing a vibrant gathering place for the community. Visitors are invited to relax on the steps of the pavilion, enjoying the inviting atmosphere created by the thoughtful arrangement of both space and seating.

The structural integrity of the Pavilion of Time is achieved through the use of laminated board, echoing the construction techniques employed in Melnikov's Makhorka pavilion. The staircase features side ropes crafted from durable sheet metal, while the steps are made of warm, inviting wood. This combination not only ensures safety and durability but also contributes to the pavilion's aesthetic appeal. Each element of the pavilion is designed for easy assembly and installation, allowing for efficient production and delivery.

We invite you to experience the Pavilion of Time, where architecture meets art and community. Join us on the steps of our pavilion and witness how the mastery of space and design can create a unique environment that inspires creativity and connection. ArchiLEM is proud to present this innovative project, and we look forward to welcoming you to an exhibition that celebrates the beauty and potential of architectural design.
