Allegoria Mosca

Allegoria Mosca is a remarkable architectural project situated in the historical center of Moscow, where Prechistenka Street, Ostozhenka Street, and Prechistenka Gates Square converge. This prime location is in proximity to notable literary museums, including those dedicated to Aleksander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy, and Ivan Turgenev, enriching the cultural fabric of the area.

The project site encompasses two significant 17th-century historical buildings: the White Chambers and the Red Chambers. The White Chambers, originally the family home of Russian prince Prozorovsky, transitioned into a hotel in the late 19th century and later served as a residential house during the Soviet era. The Red Chambers, formerly the residence of boyar Ushkov, transformed from a restaurant into a gallery during the same period. This rich history provides a unique backdrop for the contemporary vision of Allegoria Mosca.

In designing Allegoria Mosca, Kleinewelt Architekten undertook extensive research into archival materials to uncover the historical significance and geometric essence of the site. The architects aimed to create a harmonious blend of authentic Moscow architecture with elements inspired by classical Italian palazzo design. A small square formed by the White and Red Chambers has been reimagined as a piazetta—a cozy town square reminiscent of old Moscow, fostering community interaction and engagement.

The revitalization of small public squares, where people can gather and converse, is a crucial aspect of this project. Allegoria Mosca aims to recapture the essence of the piazetta format, providing a vibrant space for social events and a supportive infrastructure for future tenants. This vision reflects a commitment to enhancing public spaces while honoring the site's historical legacy.

To achieve this vision, the architects have planned a renovation that opens the structure to the public, offering thoughtfully designed residential spaces and amenities while preserving the historical buildings. The material palette features natural stone for the facades, transparent glass, and a selection of greenery, creating a seamless integration of the historical and modern elements. This careful selection of materials ensures that Allegoria Mosca stands as a testament to architectural excellence and historical reverence.
