The Joenniemi Manor, the garden, the lake, and the Taavetinsaari Island in the intervention area served as the main inspiration for the development of the new extension of the Serlachius Gösta Museum. The architectonical importance of the surroundings posed a challenge to the architects at Vítor Leal Barros Architecture to design a building that complements the existing landscape without subverting its natural perfection.

A Creative Exercise in Design
