Project's Summary

LeanToo is an impressive renovation and addition project situated in the heart of urban Austin, Texas. Crafted by the renowned architectural studio, Nick Deaver Architect, this project was driven by the vision of creating a design that harmoniously interacts with its surroundings. The architects aimed to establish a dialogue between various elements, such as the neighborhood's context, the existing 900 s.f. cottage, the majestic oak trees dotting the site, and, of course, the unique needs of their clients.

The design concept of LeanToo revolves around the idea of terraces, which play a pivotal role in welcoming visitors and guiding them throughout the space. These terraces serve as an introduction to the home, gradually unfolding the architectural experience as one enters. The clever use of large and small strategic windows allows for an abundance of natural light to permeate the interior, creating a home that offers diverse and captivating experiences.

In pursuit of creating a visually stunning abode, the architects selected materials that exude richness and sophistication. To achieve this, they utilized site-found and hardy materials, seamlessly blending the contemporary design with the resilience and low maintenance they desired. The deliberate choice of these materials not only adds textural interest to the overall composition but also ensures the longevity of the structure, making it a wise investment for the homeowners.

LeanToo stands as a testament to the innovative and thoughtful approach taken by Nick Deaver Architect. By considering the neighborhood's character, the existing cottage, the natural environment, and the specific needs of their clients, the architects have successfully created a space that seamlessly integrates into its surroundings. The project's emphasis on terraces, abundant natural light, and the careful selection of materials demonstrates the studio's commitment to both aesthetic excellence and practicality. LeanToo is undeniably a remarkable addition to the urban fabric of Austin, Texas.
